Origin night in the Maranoa

QUEENSLAND and New South Wales fans were out in force on Wednesday night, cheering on their respective teams from pubs all over the region.

Throughout the day, fans could be seen wearing football attire around town to show their support as the countdown began for the all-important Game 1 in Melbourne.

In an exciting and close match full of ebbs and flows, New South Wales drew first blood against their bitter rivals with three second-half tries from rookies Latrell Mitchell, Josh Addo-Carr and Tom Trbojevic sealing the game for the new-look Blues.

Queensland was gallant in defeat and with a less-than-ideal preparation leading into the game, will fancy themselves an improved outfit when they head to Sydney for Game 2.
