Under the agreement, Valmec has committed to build local employment opportunities year on year, establish a local Indigenous traineeship program, and invest in community partnerships and donations.

Dave Atkin, Origin’s General Manager Spring Gully, Denison and Pipelines, said the agreement was a further example of how Origin is contributing to sustainable economic growth in the region.

“We recognise that procuring goods and services from local and regional suppliers is an important way to share economic value in the communities where we operate,” Mr Atkin said.

“We’re looking forward to working with Valmec to increase our positive reach in the Maranoa

region, something we are very proud of.”

Origin’s procurement policy has Regional Participation Plans and Indigenous Participation

Commitments (IPCs) included in contracts with key contractors.

Valmec’s Managing Director Steve Dropulich said, “over the next five years utilising our new facility in Roma for maintenance services, we will provide a minimum of an additional six jobs for the local community in engineering, purchasing, warehousing and administration roles”.

“We are proud of the active role we have played in the community since we started providing

services to Origin in 2016,” he said.

“We look forward to continuing to build this engagement as we establish our new Roma operations facility as a key regional hub for our business.”

Origin is the upstream operator of Australia Pacific LNG.
