One dead after car bursts into flames after crashing

POLICE are investigating a fatal single vehicle traffic crash last night at Woolloongabba.

Initial investigations indicate around 10.20pm a vehicle travelling southbound has left the motorway just after the Cornwall Street exit and crashed into trees before catching fire.

When the fire was extinguished emergency services discovered the remains of one person inside the vehicle.

The southbound section of the highway was closed with traffic being diverted whilst investigations were conducted. The road has since been reopened.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating with police appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have any information that could assist them, to contact Crimestoppers.
