One dead, 11 injured as "intentional" blast rocks Germany

ONE person is dead and at least 11 injured in an explosion outside the German city of Nuremberg, which authorities are considering an attack.

The blast in the town of Ansbach was thought to have been caused by an explosive device, according to mayor Carda Seidel.

The man killed in the explosion is understood to be the attacker.

Mr Seidel said he could not rule out if there were multiple explosions.

The Ministry of the Interior has warned that it may have been a bombing, describing the blast as a "deliberately provoked explosion".

It comes only hours after a machete attack by a Syrian asylum seeker in the city of Reutlingen. It has not been linked to terrorism.

On Friday, nine people were killed by an 18-year-old gunman in Munich.
