NZ couple airlifted from remote location west of Roma

A NEW Zealand couple in their late 60s were airlifted after an accident involving a campervan on a remote stretch of the Landsborough Hwy, west of Roma, late this afternoon.

The couple, from Christchurch, were reportedly travelling in convoy with four other campervans just north of Morven when the driver, a male, lost consciousness and drove off the highway.

Both the man and his wife suffered multiple injuries in the subsequent crash.

LifeFlight's Roma-based Surat Gas Aero-Medical Service (SGAS) arrived at the scene about 12,45pm.

The chopper's crew stabilised the the couple before flying them to Roma.

Toowoomba RACQ LifeFlight Rescue then picked the couple up and flew them from Roma to Brisbane's Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
