NSW woman charged over Bali policeman's death

BYRON Bay woman Sara Connor has been charged with murder following the death of a Bali policeman.

The 45-year-old mother of two is reportedly also facing charges of assault causing death and group assault.

The policeman, Wayan Sudarsa, was found on Kuta Beach early on Wednesday morning with wounds police believed could have been caused by a broken beer bottle.

Ms Connor's British boyfriend, David Taylor, has also been charged with the same crimes.

Her lawyer, Erwin Siregar, who also represented Australian Schapelle Corby, said Ms Connor had signed a document enabling police to detain her for the next 20 days while investigations continued.

That time can be extended by police to up to 100 days.

The murder charge carries a maximum of 15 years in jail.
