North Brisbane suburb in lockdown after shot fired

FINAL UPDATE: POLICE say they entered the property where they believed the man was only to find no one there.

However the man suspected of firing the shot which started the lockdown was allegedly located and detained by police about an hour later.

UPDATE 4.22PM: NEGOTIATORS have been called in and SERT officers in an armoured vehicle have arrived at the scene of a siege in Warner in Brisbane's northern suburbs.

EARLIER: SPECIALIST police units are on their way as a number of streets in the suburb of Warner, just north of Brisbane, have been placed into lockdown after a gun was fired at a home.

Police say the incident which sparked the lockdown occurred earlier this afternoon when a man shot a gun at a house on nearby Samsonvale Rd.

At 2.13pm police declared a state of emergency - asking people to stay away from a large area bounded by four streets.

The area bounded by Oxford Street, Youngs Crossing Rd, Old North Rd, Gun Street, Flintwood St, Sonata Drive, Kurrajong Drive and Regent St has now been cordoned off.
