No sign of 'Welcome to Jackson'
ROMA police are looking for a sign after the newly installed 'Welcome to Jackson' board was stolen from the side of the Warrego Hwy last week.
Roma Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said police were seeking witnesses or information regarding the theft.
"It's believed the offence occurred on the night of Thursday, July 12,” Sgt Frank said.
"It appears the screws which hold the sign in place on the frame have been undone, and those screws were left laying on the ground next to the signboard.
"The approximate value of the sign is $1000. The persons are still unknown to police.”
Sgt Frank said the sign would be replaced at cost to the council.
"It's highly likely it's someone local to Jackson, or someone that shares a name,” Sgt Frank said.
"Things like these often become memorabilia, and we later find them hanging in someone's shed.”
Anyone with information regarding the sign should contact the Roma police on 07 4622 9333.
