After allegedly beating up three women, court refuses bail

A MAN has been refused bail after briefly appearing in court on charges relating to an alleged assault early on Wednesday morning.

The 26-year-old was arrested on Ruthven St about 1.20am yesterday after allegedly bashing three woman on the CBD street.

The man's application for bail was refused and he will reappear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on June 22 on seven charges relating to the incident.

Police will allege the man assaulted his female partner on the street when a female friend of the woman attempted to defuse the situation.

The man then assaulted the second woman before a woman driving past stopped to help the two women.

Police will allege the man then assaulted the third woman before officers arrived on scene and he was taken into custody.

The man has been charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and one count each of common assault, driving under the influence of liquor, wilful damage, public nuisance and contravening a domestic violence order.
