NiE In the jungle
TREES the size of tall buildings, hanging vines snaking their way around, steamy conditions, vibrant greenery, tangles of vegetation, brilliantly coloured flowers and an assortment of creatures. This is a jungle.
Jungles fall into the rainforest ecosystem and are very similar but rainforests have thick canopies of tall trees that block out sunlight whereas jungles allow more light in. This makes it easier for plants to grow, giving jungles a thick undergrowth of dense vegetation.
Jungles occur in areas with high annual rainfall and high temperatures that create humid conditions in the understory below the tree canopy.
Jungles appear around places near the equator in Central America and northern South America, central western Africa and Southeast Asia.
Jungles are home to a wide range of plants and animals.
