New affordable housing lands in Roma
MORE accommodation is now available in Roma, with the launch of the first stage of a new affordable housing development.
Lander No.4 is set to provide the community with 10 extra, two and three bedroom homes.
Representatives from Maranoa Regional Council, Origin on behalf of Australia Pacific LNG and Horizon Housing came together for the event at the development at South St, Roma.
Deputy Mayor and Portfolio Chair for Housing Scott Wason said the completion of stage one marked a key milestone for the project and the Maranoa.
"These 10 new dwellings from Lander No. 4 will support the need for additional affordable accommodation options in our community," he said.
"I look forward to seeing the benefits this development will bring to our residents into the future."
Origin community relations manager Scott Bird said the organisation had worked closely with Horizon Housing and Maranoa Regional Council to develop the affordable housing solution and was proud of the achievement.
"The quality of homes that are now available at Lander No.4 will be a positive legacy for the Roma community," Mr Bird said
Horizon Housing CEO Jason Cubit said the housing was targeted at people who already lived locally.
"These houses are larger than the townhouse developments which the region has seen recently," Mr Cubit said.
"Their extra space is designed to attract those already living in the Maranoa and our innovative approach to their design is what helps keep prices down."
Situated on land at 10-12 South St, 'Lander No. 4' is an initiative of Maranoa Regional Council (provided the land), Origin on behalf of Australia Pacific LNG (Provided $1.87 million funding) and Horizon Housing (who developed the project and will manage the properties).
