New buses make St John’s student trips easier
STUDENTS of St John’s School will be travelling in style from now on, with the purchase of two new buses making trips much easier.
Purchased by the St John’s Parents and Friends Committee, with the support of the school sub-committees, the Toyota vehicles were given the official test on the Year 11 leadership camp trip to Coolumboola in late March.
The buses are now being used regularly to transport students to various venues within Roma.
P&F Chairperson Grant Lorenz said the buses allowed the school to better organise their travel instead of outsourcing.
“In the long term this will have significant financial savings for the school and give them the opportunity to be more flexible in their planning,” Mr Lorenz said.
“It’s been one of those projects we have been able to get off the ground due to the incredible support and generosity of the parents, students, school, community and sponsors during our fundraising events over the last three years.”
Secretary Ange Millard said it was great to see the fundraising efforts come together with the purchase of the buses.
“Without the support of our local businesses and families this certainly wouldn’t have been possible, ” she said.
