Name your Council election issues

With just over two months to go to the Queensland local council elections, the Western Star wants readers and ratepayers to set the agenda.

The Queensland Electoral Commission has not yet formally announced the date but the conventional wisdom is that Council elections will be held on Saturday, March 31.

That means that you will soon hear from a wide range of candidates who will be telling you why you should vote for them.

However what the Western Star wants to know is what YOU think.

What are the issues you want to see raised in the Maranoa Regional Council elections.

What things make your blood boil?

What issues do you want candidates to address?

What do we want to keep in the region and what do we need?

What does Council do well and what can they do better?

We know that locals are bursting with opinions and ideas about how a Council can run effectively and now's the time to tell the world about them.

All you need to do is contact the Star and tell us in as few or as many words as you like what new councillors should do and we will publish them in a special page in every edition between now and the election.

We can also ask questions of candidates on your behalf so let us know what you want us to ask them.

We want your opinion but there are only two rules.

1. You must identify yourself with a first and last name - anonymous comments will not be published

2. Play the ball not the man (or woman) -  we want to hear your issues not personal attacks on candidates
