Alleged murder of student set to go to higher court

A FORMER Ipswich man accused of murdering a South Korean student is likely to have his case committed to a higher court later this month.

Alex Reuben McEwan is accused of murdering South Korean student Eunji Ban, 22, during the early hours of November 24, 2013 in Brisbane's Wickham Park.

Mr McEwan's case was briefly mentioned at Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday when his case was adjourned until next week.

The court heard his case was almost ready to proceed to the next stage where it is likely it will be committed to a higher court.

His case was adjourned to be mentioned again at Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 29 when it is likely Mr McEwan will appear via video link-up from jail.
