Stay-at-home mums collaborate for shopping expo

WHEN you're a stay-at-home mum, it pays to take charge of your own business.

Becks Health and Wellness consultant Rebecca Johnson didn't realise there were so many Toowoomba mums who work from home via party plan and consumer direct companies.

She put a call out on Facebook, hoping to get some business advice.

"I wondered if I was the only one. I put a post on Facebook and it snowballed from there."

Mrs Johnson found a group of like-minded mums who had also discovered the benefits of running a home-based business.

EDITORIAL: Mums in business deserve our recognition

Tupperware consultant Nicole Murray has made a career out of her business and said it was an achievable, flexible way of earning an income.

She said there were plenty of misconceptions out there about the industry.

"Tupperware parties aren't what they used to be, they've modernised the label."

The mums are excited to hold their first event, Toowoomba's Direct Shopping Expo run by local businesses, which will give business owners and customers the chance to network, find out more about products and opportunities and buy and sell their goods.

The expo will be held at St Thomas More's Hall, Toowoomba on Saturday, October 24, from 9am until 4pm. Gold coin donation on entry will be donated to the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation. Visit the Toowoomba's Direct Shopping EXPO event on Facebook.
