MICK Fanning's mother has moved to stop rumours circulating about her son's death as the family prepared to farewell the 43-year-old who died earlier this month.
Peter Fanning's mother, Elizabeth Osborne, told the Gold Coast Bulletin the results of her son's autopsy report after speculation from NSW police that drugs were involved in his death.
She said the coroner's report found Mr Fanning died from an enlarged heart.
Peter's heart gave up because of a serious hyperthyroid problem, a disease that almost killed the father of three in 2012, she told the paper.
Ms Osborne said Peter had been on heart medication and eating a healthy diet since the scare, up until he was found dead in his apartment.
Loved ones will remember Peter Fanning at his funeral in Tweed Heads today.
Friends and family of the construction worker from the southern end of the Gold Coast have been invited to attend the service organised by Easton Funeral Services at the Tweed Heads Crematorium, 11.30am NSW time.
A funeral notice has remembered Peter as "(a) loved husband of Kai, treasured dad of Madeline, Nardia and Hunter, loving son of John and Elizabeth, dearly loved brother of Rachel, Edward, Sean (deceased) and Michael."
Mick Fanning has posted images on social media of his family and his beloved dog Harper over the Christmas period.
The family have been inundated with messages of love and support from around the world.
