Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital

A MAN is recovering at Toowoomba Hospital, after he collided with an emu and crashed his motorbike, earlier today.

LifeFlight's Roma-based Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter was tasked to the accident scene, south of Mitchell, around 9:30 this morning.

It was a joint effort on the ground, with local officers from the Queensland Police Service and paramedics from the Queensland Ambulance Service, assisting the LifeFlight aeromedical crew to assess and treat the patient.

The man was flown to hospital in a stable condition.

The emu reportedly ran from the scene, without any apparent injury.
