Mother and daughter dedicate their time
THIS mother and daughter combo deserve a medal for all the time and effort they put into the local community.
Several locals would come across Janet Rowlings from all the groups she volunteers her time in.
She has volunteered her time at Life Christian Church for the last 18-months, mainly doing administration work.
"I started because I had the time and resources available and could see a possible need, so I offered," she said.
"Later, I took on another role at the church.
"I enjoy connecting with people and helping people connect with our church."
In addition to the church, she has given her time to P & C and kindergartens, she currently assists a Pinaroo resident with typing and running errands each week.
Previously, she has taught RI in schools, been involved in the Roma Eisteddfod committee, Pinaroo auxiliary and Maranoa Chaplaincy committee.
"I love the sense of achievement when the organisation I'm involved in puts on a successful event and knowing that I've been a part of helping that," she said.
"I volunteer to help make our community a better place.
"As my pastor, Shane Wallis says 'A sense of belonging comes with a cost and until you contribute you won't feel you belong' - Volunteering helps me to feel that I belong and that I'm valued."
Janet's 15-year-old daughter Jessica is currently doing an Active Volunteering court through Roma State College.
She also volunteers at the church and Pinaroo.
While COVID-19 has made volunteering a little more difficult and because she isn't able visit Pinaroo, she has been making Word Search puzzles and printing colouring pages for the elderly residents.
