ALMOST one in three Aussies are now eating breakfast at their desk while many are skipping the meal altogether in an effort to get into the office early, new research has revealed.
29% of Australians have skipped the most important meal of the day due to work commitments and 32% admit to eating breakfast at their desk.
Gen-Y workers were the most likely to prioritize work meetings over breakfast, with 37% skipping the meal, according to the survey done by Galaxy.
NSW residents are the worst culprits, with 34% getting caught up in the rat race instead of making their morning meal a routine.
Leading Australian dietitian, Geraldine Georgeou believes Australian workers are losing out long-term for short-term time gains by skipping breakfast in the morning. She has partnered with Uncle Tobys to encourage Australians to reclaim their breakfast time.
"People might think they are saving time but they aren't doing themselves any favours by skipping breakfast," she said.
"Instead, they are much more likely to feel tired, cranky or struggle to concentrate because their bodies don't have the energy they need to focus on their work."
