Mitchell Magpies wings clipped in loss

RUGBY LEAGUE: The Under-18 Magpies are looking to try and get a few points on the ladder this weekend after a disappointing loss last week to Chinchilla.

Mitchell coach Geoff Kenafake said he held high hopes that the boys could improve on their results from the previous game.

“The boys didn’t play as well as they should have last weekend,” Kenafake said.

“Both the U18s and the A-Grade played games that were a bit flat.

“The U18s especially lacked discipline and had a lot of drop balls and you can never expect to win a game of footy if you don’t hang on to the ball.”

The Magpies had come off a high from winning against the Devils the week before and Kenafake was hoping to see the same results.

“I was hoping the boys would build off the win from the weekend before but they just couldn’t get it together,” he said.

“It would be good to try and put a few points in this weekend.”

Red Bulls will be hosting the Magpies this weekend at Surat and will be feeling confident after their win again Cities.

“We have picked up a few injuries this week and we are down in numbers in the A-Grade side,” Kenafake said.

“But we will see what happens, you never know what the weekend will bring.”

The Mitchell Magpies U18s are currently third on the ladder with 12 points while the Red Bulls are just below with 8 points.
