Minister for Women refuses to address Billy Gordon question

STATE Minister Shannon Fentiman refused to answer questions about controversial MP Billy Gordon during Thursday's State Government budget estimates hearing.

A Communities, Disability Services and Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Committee member asked the Minister for Women if she took the advice of the government-backed domestic violence Trust Your Instincts campaign when she heard Mr Gordon was under a family abuse cloud.

"This is a matter under police investigation," Ms Fentiman told the committee.

Mr Gordon was a Labor MP and is now an independent, a move he made after it was alleged he was violent towards a former partner.

The controversy surrounding the MP for Cook rocked Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk's fledgling government during the first parliamentary sitting early this year.
