Metal pole swung at 81-year-old woman over money row

AFTER being approached by a man in his car, an 81-year-old woman became alarmed when he started behaving aggressive, swinging a metal pole around.

Police were called at about 5.30pm last Friday to Cambridge St in Mitchell, where the victim alleged a 59-year-old male had approached her in his car.

It’s further alleged he got out of his car, and armed with a metal pole demanded money he claimed he was owed.

Hours later, police attended the man’s home where they found the pole.

According to police, the pair were known to each other.

The man was arrested on one count of going armed as to cause fear or alarm. He was released on bail and will appear in Mitchell Magistrates Court on December 16.
