Meet and Greet with Cherry in Roma
TOUCH FOOTBALL: Olympic gold winner and rugby champion Emilee Cherry is returning to her grass roots of Roma for a catch up and skills session this weekend.
Cherry will be down at the Roma Touch Football Grounds Saturday morning for a souvenir signing and skills development session.
Roma junior touch co-ordinator Meryl Eddie said the opportunity to meet and learn from Cherry was one not to be missed.
"I think it's an exciting opportunity for both juniors and adults,” she said.
"Emilee played with Roma touch initially when she was very young and so we are excited to have her come back and be part of group.”
Ms Eddie said anyone is welcome to come along to the day and have a chat with Cherry.
"It's open to anyone in the public so they can come and meet her and participate in the day,” she said
"We'll have skill stations set up which are primarily focused at juniors, so up until the age of Year 12, and depending on how Emilee's feeling there might be a game to showcase her skills and at to have a bit of fun.”
The session will concentrate on teaching hands on skills related to touch football and people will also have the chance to come away with a special souvenir.
"If you want to bring in a hat or cap or anything that you want Emillee to sign you can,” she said.
"And bring a camera if you want a photo.
"Emilee's success just shows what you can do with a bit of hard work and dedication and what happens when you take opportunities by both hands.”
