McDonald's Roma licensee 'shocked' by award treble
MARC Benson knows there's a lot more to running a McDonald's franchise than serving burgers.
The Roma licensee has been left shocked after the major local employer took out a treble of prizes at the Maranoa Business Awards on Saturday night.
Beating a field of worthy candidates, McDonald's scored wins in Large Business of the Year, Tourism and Hospitality Award and the coveted Business of the Year.
Mr Benson, whose franchise employs more than 70 people, said the awards were an indication of the hard work his team had put in to keep the business thriving.
"It was definitely a shock, that's for sure, but we'll take it and very appreciative of the judging. It's an indication of what our team does every single day on the frontline,” he said.
"All the way from our management team through to the people who change bins - everyone plays a part and makes it happen.
"I wish it was a simple as serving burgers, but it's not.
"There's so much that goes on behind the scenes to keep 70-plus people in the right mindset.”
Aside from their customer service, Mr Benson said he was proud of the franchise's training program and support of local community groups and sporting clubs.
The other finalists for Business of the Year were Boobook Eco Tours, Rayham Engineering, EziQuip and Moorelands Bush Nursery.
