Maranoa's weekend T20 matches kick off season
The start of the Maranoa cricket season kicked off on the weekend with a number of T20 matches played at both Mitchell and Roma.
Mitchell and Souths clashed in the first game of the day at the Mitchell Combined Sporting Complex.
Widely known as the shortest form of the game, T20 matches can be wrapped up in less than three hours.
Mitchell batted first and was all out for 65, with bastmen Bryton Currie and Chris Hughes their side's top scorers, making 21 each.
South players Shannon Lorenz and Clancy Sheehan both took incredible figures of 3/4, set their side up for a comprehensive win.
The away side made short work of the total set by Mitchell, reaching 3/66 after just 10 overs. All-rounder Scott Pearson starred for Souths with a game-high 52 not out. Mitchell's best bowlers were Clancy Foott with 2/26 and Chris Hughes with 1/9.
