Maranoa's netball courts fire up play

IT MAY have been a warm 34°, but that didn't stop Maranoa's keenest netball players from descending on Bassett Park's courts for an evening of round-robin competition.

Playing six games over four hours is no easy feat, especially in the heat.

Each game was made up of two eight-minute halves, with a brief half time.

The first few games were hot and sweaty, but all players got on with their games with enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

Following the rounds, finals took place at 8.30pm before a trophy presentation to award the top teams from the day.

The team, And the Winners Are.., took out the A-grade competition, while Balls Up claimed the prize for B-grade, winning a heart stopper by one point in the final minute.

The junior division was won by the Silver Bullets.

All winning teams went home with a cash prize for their efforts.

The mixed netball competition continues on Wednesday night.
