Maranoa voters turn to experience
It looks as if Maranoa residents have turned to those with prior political experience as the count progresses in Roma.
1505 councillor votes have been tallied and former Roma Town Councillor Peter Flynn is topping the poll with 1047 votes. Young Nationals federal president Cameron O'Neil is second with 992. He is followed by three sitting councillors Joy Denton 987, Jan Chambers 986 and Scott Wason 942.
Another former Roma Town councillor David Schefe is sixth with 852 while two more sitting councillors are seventh and eight (Wendy Newman 827 votes and Ree Price 739).
Peter Keegan remains strongly in the hunt in ninth place just 13 votes behind Ree Price for that crucial last eighth spot.
Jeff Watson is 10th with 649 votes and looks like the only sitting councillor likely to be unseated.
The rest reads: 11 Ray Howson 638 12 Kent Morris 601 13 Augie Johanson 599 14 Tony Allen 585 15 Pete Basmadjian 467 16 George Mehay 403.
The councillor count will continue to around 2400 ballots before returning to the Mayoral count.
Only a small number of Mayoral ballots have been counted so far today with Robert Loughnan extending a slight lead. Latest is Rob Loughnan 843, Tyson Golder 812, Baden Waldron 799. Sharon Wraight 89.
