Maranoa tennis stars serve up a show

TENNIS: Players from throughout the southwest brought their best games in a bid to take out the Mount's Machinery Maranoa Open at the weekend.

A joint effort between Maranoa Tennis and Roma and District Tennis Club resulted in a round robin tournament of men's and ladies' singles, doubles and mixed doubles contest for a share of $4000.

More than 28 players participated in the tournament, coming from Bell, St George, Dalby, Jandowae, Dulacca and Roma.

Roma and District Tennis Club president Baden Waldron said the tournament was great with quality atmosphere and tremendous sportsmanship.

Winners: Men's doubles - Darcy Rodgers and Christian Prince; men's singles - Ben Forbes; women's singles - Darcy Hubbard; women's doubles - Jodie Donolly and Debbie Pringle, and mixed doubles - Ben Todd and Maryellen Tucker.
