Man rescued from ceiling of Southern Downs home
IT WAS a rough start to the day for an Allora man who became trapped in a ceiling this morning.
The man in his 70s was caught in the ceiling of a Darling St home just after 9am, reportedly following a hip injury.
Fire crews from Warwick and Allora worked to free the man from the ceiling space.
Warwick Fire Station officer Darren Welsh said fire crews worked with paramedics to free the man smoothly and quickly.
"We understand he had previous trouble with his hip and was checking something in the ceiling before an electrician was due to come," Mr Welsh said.
"The Allora QFES unit had begun removing the roof sheeting to gain access to the ceiling space, that was the only way we could get him out.

"Once the QAS had strapped him up we were able to set up a system of ladders and slide him out down safely.
"It can be drawn out sometimes, and especially as it's a very hot day the ceiling board had really heated up, but we worked together to get him out."
The man has been taken to Warwick Hospital in a stable condition.
