Man appears in court after Caloundra cinema hold-up

UPDATE:

A MAN accused of robbing the Big Screen Cinemas at gun point has not applied for bail in court this morning.

Tyran Lee Oakhill, 22, is charged with armed robbery and entering a premises with intent in relation to a hold-up at the Caloundra cinema last night.

He was wearing a singlet and shorts when he appeared in custody this morning, his hair cropped short but for a rat's tail at the back.

Duty lawyer Michael Robinson said his client would be making an application for Legal Aid funding.

Magistrate Annette Hennessy adjourned Oakhill's matters until June 30.

He was remanded in custody.

Police are this morning continuing their search for another man they believe was involved in the alleged robbery.

He is described as being about 182cm tall and of slim build.

He was last seen wearing a hoodie, long pants and a pink mask covering his face.

EARLIER:

POLICE are hunting a man who was wearing a pink mask after the armed robbery of a Sunshine Coast cinema complex overnight.

It will be alleged around 7.30pm two men entered the cinema complex on Bulcock Street, Caloundra and threatened two employees with a firearm before demanding money.

The two female staff members complied and the pair fled the scene on foot with a large sum of cash.

No one was physically injured.

A short time later police patrols located a man at a Caloundra residence where he was taken into custody.

A 22-year-old Aroona man has been charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of enter premises to commit an indictable offence.

He has been remanded in police custody to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday.

The second man is described as being around 182cm tall and of slim build.

He was last seen wearing a hoodie, long pants and a pink mask covering his face.
