Man hit by truck expected to make full recovery

A 20-YEAR-OLD man is in a stable condition after being hit by a truck on the Warrego Highway on Monday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the incident, which occurred near Explorers Inn on the edge of town at 1.18pm.

Paramedics transported the man to Roma Hospital with head injuries, which were downgraded from critical to serious.

A South West Hospital and Health spokesperson said the man was currently in a stable condition at the hospital.

The stretch of the Warrego Highway between Explorers Inn and the Overlander Motel is a 70km/h speed zone.

"Inquiries reveal that the driver of the truck was not at fault,” Roma Police Sergeant Sian Jacobs said.

Police are continuing to investigate and said the man was expected to make a full recovery.
