Man on grievous bodily harm charge faces court

UPDATE 2.50PM: BAIL has been refused for the North Mackay man who allegedly assaulted a man outside of Rockhampton's Giddy Goat last night. 

  The accused, Brendan James Zemek, appeared before Magistrate Cameron Press in the Rockhampton Magistrate's Court this morning where his bail was denied.

The 31-year-old, who was on bail for a previous assault charge, will remain in custody until his next court appearence in January. 

 

5am: Rockhampton detectives have charged a man following an alleged assault on East Street overnight.

Police will allege at around 11.30pm the man assaulted a 53-year-old man outside a licenced venue, causing him to fall the ground, resulting in multiple fractures to his wrist.

A 29-year-old man from North Mackay has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.

He is due to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.
