Road re-opens after horrific head-on crash at Plainland

UPDATE: Police expect Donaldson Rd to re-open about 10am following a horrific two-vehicle head-on crash at Plainland this morning.

One lane of the busy road is currently under traffic control with diversions in place around the incident which is being investigated by the Forensic Crash Unit.

A yellow ute from which a man in his 20s was cut free by Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews has been extensively damaged in the crash.

A police spokeswoman said officers at the scene anticipated the road to be re-opened this morning.

The crash occurred about 6.10am.

7.50AM: A man has been airlifted from a two-vehicle head-on crash at Plainland this morning.

Emergency services were called to reports two vehicles had collided on Laidley-Plainland Rd at Plainland at about 6.10am.

A man in his mid-20s had to be cut from one vehicle after he was pinned by his legs in the crash.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said crews used hydraulic rescue equipment to access the man by 7.20am who was then airlifted by Rescue 500 helicopter to the PA Hospital.

The man has suffered a fractured arm and leg and is also being treated for head injuries.

The other driver, a woman, was assessed by paramedics for neck injuries but did not require further treatment.

Four QFES crews responded to the crash and remain at the scene clearing a large oil spill on the roadway.

Both lanes are blocked and diversions are in place.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area.
