Bail for man charged with two counts of child abduction

UPDATE: A man charged with the abduction of two children from an address in Raceview has appeared briefly in court.

The man, 33, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared wearing watchhouse greens on Friday in Ipswich Magistrates Court where his legal representative made an application for bail.

The application was granted albeit under strict conditions.

The matter was adjourned until March 9.

 

EARLIER: Ipswich police have charged a man following an alleged abduction of two girls yesterday.

It will be alleged a man, who is known to the girls, took them on Thursday from a Raceview residence at about 9:30am. 

The girls, aged 3 and 4, and the man were located safe and well at around 1.30pm at a Springfield park.

A Thuringowa Central man, 33, has been charged with two counts of abducting a child and one count each of assault and breach domestic violence order.  

He will appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court this morning.
