Man stabbed at prayer meeting

A MAN has been charged by police after an alleged stabbing in Southport yesterday afternoon.

Police allege a 28-year-old man approached another man at a prayer meeting at 12.50pm and stabbed him several times in the abdomen.

A 29-year-old man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The alleged offender has been charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.
