TUESDAY: A MAN who was trying to avoid arrest is believed to have received a taser blast to a 'sensitive area'.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman confirmed police and Queensland Ambulance Service crews were called to a Rockhampton neighbourhood this afternoon after people witnessed a man jumping over backyard fences.

The QPS spokesman said the reports indicate people thought the male may have been high on drugs.

He said police tried to apprehend the male suspect, believed to be in his 30s, in relation to property offences, but he as resisted arrest and a taser was deployed.

Reports indicate the man received a taser blast to a 'sensitive area' of the body and there was some difficultly detaching the device from his body, however, The Bulletin has been unable to obtain confirmation of these facts.

A QAS spokesman said a man was transported from the incident, which was in Scott and Hunt Streets, Kawana, to Rockhampton Hospital under police escort.
