Would-be thief attacks 70-year-old when caught in the act
A 70-YEAR-OLD Yeppoon man suffered serious injuries after confronting a man while trying to break in to his car on Thursday night.
At about 7.20pm a 42-year-old Yeppoon man was in the resident's vehicle while parked on the driveway, a police spokesman said last week.
The resident was struck in the face after approaching the man.
The resident suffered bleeding nose, broken teeth and a dislocated finger.
The male then ran off but was located a short time later by police.
The male was subsequently charged with two counts of enter premises (vehicles), serious assault, receiving tainted property and stealing.
He is to appear in a Rockhampton Magistrates Court on June 30.
The 42-year-old man is not the same person who was charged with the break-and-enters on Tanby Rd last week.
