Man arrested over croc death
A MAN has been charged over the death of a three-metre crocodile in far north Queensland.
The dead freshwater crocodile was found by fisheries officers in Sorensen Creek, south of Cairns last week.

It had been caught in a trap, and subsequent surveillance allegedly showed the 69-year-old man removing the crocodile from the trap.

He was arrested today and charged with one count of taking a protected animal and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on February 7.
Authorities said crocodiles of all kinds are protected species, and the maximum fine for killing one is just over $28,000.
