LETTER TO EDITOR: ‘How dare councillors abandon responsibility’
HOW dare Maranoa Regional Council abrogate their responsibility by dumping the decision process onto CEO, Julie Reitano.
A decision will never be reached by council due to Conflict of Interest issues, so don’t foist this controversial matter onto council’s paid employee.
If some councillors and the mayor feel so strongly about the proposed purchase of this overpriced, rundown facility, please display the intestinal fortitude to stand up and be counted by buying the premises themselves.
In my opinion, for what it is worth as an ex Roma Town Councillor and Deputy Mayor, Maranoa Regional Council has no business in involving itself in such a purchase.
I am an avid movie buff, but I would have to put personal considerations aside and need to see a comprehensive business plan before I could even imagine committing ratepayers’ funds.
My experience over eight years on council is that the loudest supporter will disappear when the time comes to put their bum on a cinema seat.
