LETTER: Standards for bad language have changed

A READER (19/08) didn't see the funny side of the headline on the front page of the QT on Wednesday.

It's interesting to note how our attitude has altered over so-called 'bad language' over the years. When I was a child, even 'golly' and 'gosh' were not allowed in our home as they were a version of swear words using God's name in vain.

I try to ignore some of the language which is seen as acceptable now, but it does concern me that so many people can't seem to express themselves without swearing.

I agree with the letter writer that the QT's standard of reporting is to be commended and that the Wednesday headline was rather over the top.

I was half expecting to see a squat toilet somewhere in the picture.
