Kat and Andre fall short of MKR redemption

REDEMPTION slipped through Kat and Andre's fingers on My Kitchen Rules tonight.

What was supposed to be an improvement over their first instant restaurant turned into a rollercoaster, ending with the Perth couple scoring one point less than their first outing on the reality cooking show.

They started strong with an organised trip to the shops. While there were a few inconsistencies in the cooking of the veal in their entrée, the Italian dish was an overall success.

"I think it's (got) great flavours; they really go well together," judge Manu Feildel said.

Despite the confidence boost, there was little the excitable couple could do after getting the stock for their seafood soup on too late in their prep time.

While Andre wanted to do his Italian heritage proud with the main course, the dish was the low-point of the evening.

"Zuppa di Pesce is one of Italy's beautiful and most fantastic dishes; simple but full of flavour," judge Pete Evans said.

"What you served to us was a broth basically that was quite watery but the biggest problem for me was the seafood. It was overcooked, every piece."

Manu then read the couple the riot act over their hard bread roll, saying they would have been better off not serving it.

The blow left Kat second guessing herself while preparing the dessert, but she managed to serve up an authentic French dish.

"It's probably the first ever recipe I made as an apprentice when I was 15 years old," Manu said.

"It's nice to be 15 again.

"For me it's a beautiful dessert. I really enjoyed it."

But all of the guest teams found the dessert too sickly sweet.

Kat and Andre now sit on the bottom of the leader board with two teams left to cook in the instant restaurant redemption round.

Fellow Perth residents Eva and Debra will cook tomorrow night. The work mates had the second lowest original instant restaurant score, 46, ahead of Annie and Lloyd.
