Jaden Smith appears in Louis Vuitton womenswear ad

ACTOR and rapper Jaden Smith has become the first male to appear in a Louis Vuitton womenswear ad campaign.

The 17-year-old son of actor Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith poses wears a skirt and poses with three other women in the shoot.

Louis Vuitton's creative director Nicolas Ghesquière posted photos from the Spring/Summer 16 collection on Instagram at the weekend, thanking Jaden for taking part.

Jaden was quick to respond to the social media chatter about gender-free clothing.

"Thank You So Much @louisvuitton And @nicolasghesquiere For The Opportunity To Impact This World."

Smith has become a controversial fashion icon in recent years after he rocked a dress to prom with Hunger Games star Amandla Stenberg and wore a flower crown to Coachella last year.

"[Willow and I] both don't really care," Smith told New York Times Magazine in November 2014.

"I like to wear things that I make, but I throw it on as though I was throwing on anything. It looks cool, sometimes."
