It’s hoops of fun at the Maranoa PCYC for Isaac Pierre
ISAAC Pierre might be one of the most exciting basketball talents in the Maranoa, but right now he's just kicking back.
The lanky 14-year-old is one of the dozens of kids enjoying their school holidays in the best way possible - by getting courtside and shooting some hoops as part of the Maranoa Regional Council's school holiday program on Friday.
Isaac, who listed Lebron James as his favourite player, said he loved playing as either a power forward or small forward when he was on the court.
"Both positions guard the wings and provide support," he said.
Isaac has been away at competitions with the Maranoa Heat and said he had learnt a lot about teamwork from the experiences.
"I did ok, considering our opposition - we were playing a lot of good teams," he said.
Basketball co-ordinator and Maranoa Heat junior coach Mat Gane said Isaac's main strengths were in his speed.
"He's just really fast and doesn't give up," he said.
"You don't have to coach him, because he just turns up and gives 100% every time."
Gane said he ran the basketball clinic to get kids off the couches and onto the court.
"Getting kids to stay off the games and come down to have some fun is always a good thing," he said.
