Wolfe Brothers rock in Roma
EASTER in the Country's headline act, The Wolfe Brothers, hope to come back to Roma in the future.
Tasmania's premier country rock band, which rose to stardom on talent show Australia's Got Talent, performed to a healthy crowd at Cities Oval on Saturday night.
The quartet, made up of Nick Wolfe, Tom Wolfe, Brodie Rainbird and Casey Kostiuk, have been mates for a long time and started out in the tiny Hobart music scene before hitting the big time. "We grew up together on the same road," lead singer and rhythm guitarist Nick Wolfe said.
"We went to school together and I learnt how to play and played in different bands, but it ended up the four of us playing gigs around Tasmania and Hobart. "We were slowly building a following down there but we couldn't make any impact in the mainland."
The band has since toured countless times to Queensland, but never as far inland as Roma.
"The band likes going to places you normally wouldn't go to as a tourist," Nick said.
"There are a couple of towns out here that are awesome." The band took part in the traditional street parade before using their Sunday to explore what else the festival had to offer.
With a new album, called Nothing But Trouble, coming out in the near future, the band are looking forward to doing more shows like Easter in the Country in years to come.
"Tonight we were staying at the Overlander and the family running it were just so lovely. You don't get this if you go to Sydney," Tom said.
