Is your sports-mad dad a winner?
WHETHER he's a footy fanatic or crazy for cricket, your father could be the country's next sporting hero with prizes worth $1000.
Nominations for the 2015 Community Sports Dad of the Year Award have opened.
The award, now in its third year, recognises the contributions and positive impacts Aussie men have on their families and communities on-field and off.
It also rewards the winning dad's club with a $5000 gift voucher.
Last year, NSW dads polled strongly after that state supplied 40% of nominations, footy-mad Queenslanders and Victorians supplied 25% each and Western Australia and South Australia delivered 5% each.
Byron Bay's Gary Timperley won the award in 2014.
The father of two and former professional surfer impressed the judges with the amount of time he devotes to teaching Byron Bay youngsters how to surf.
"I was really honoured to win the award and I thank the people who nominated me as it actually highlighted an opportunity for participation that some locals didn't know existed. I'm privileged to train a wonderful bunch of kids who work hard, have fun, and are excited to compete in the Australian surf lifesaving titles," he said.
To enter, visit http://www.sportsdads.com.au/community and tell the judges in up to 100 words why your dad deserves the title.
Nominations close on August 23 and the winner will be notified on August 24.
