Injune Race Day 2018
THE weather could not have been more perfect for this year's Injune Race Day, with punters and fashionistas alike coming out for the country race.
Injune Race Club president Keith Chandler said it was a superb day of racing, with only a few minor hiccups along the way.
"The weather was superb, the horses rode well, everything went well,” Mr Chandler said.
"(The track) was dry and firm but we put a bit of water on and the stewards were more than happy so that's the main thing.
"The whole day has been successful, the weather and the people, a great crowd.”
Augathella horse trainer Raymond Frazer had a great day on the field, taking home the Injune Cup on his horse Crawfish, as well as another winner and two thirds.
"It was brilliant!” Mr Frazer said.
"It's good to win the cup again,” he laughed.
The trainer was more excited for the return of his jockey, Cheryl Rogers - who had been battling cancer in recent times and rode two winners.
"Just more proud for my jockey today, this is the first win back and just so proud of her,” he said.
The popular Fashions on the Field was back again, with contestants dressing up to the nines to impress the judges.
Young Lucy Gordon and Toby Ashney took out the 6 -12 year-old category, while Brendan Slate was crowned best dressed gentleman.
Best dressed classic lady went to Jill Conway and best dressed contemporary went to Jahra Taylor.
Ms Taylor again won in the best dressed couples category with Morgan Allen, who had been the favourite to win best dressed gentleman, but was penalised for not wearing a hat.
