Indian restaurant hosts grand opening

TAJ Indian Kitchen had its grand opening on Sunday evening, attracting positive reviews from diners.

The restaurant, situated on McDowell St, serves popular Indian dishes at affordable prices.

Owner Abdul Kareem said he had tried to incorporate dishes from each Indian state, to give a more comprehensive selection.

"I have been cooking since I was 12 years old, when I learnt with my mum,” Mr Kareem said.

"I have managed restaurants for many years, and have always wanted to own my own.

"When I lived in the UK, I used to help organise 3000 people parties - which was a lot of hard work, but now that I have moved to Australia I finally have the opportunity to start my own.

"We have more than 27 different states in India and each one has their own cuisine, I wanted to bring these flavours here to Roma.”

Mr Kareem, who has been living in Roma for six years, said he was happy for the chance to bring the authentic dishes to town.

"Roma is a great place to live, there is no rushing like in the cities - it's a more stress-free life.”

The menu features a range of delicacies such as butter chicken, biryani and kadai chicken.

The restaurant is open from 5-9pm, seven days a week.
