Illegal fireworks mistaken for gunshots
WARWICK police were inundated with calls shots had been fired in a backyard in the early hours of today.
Police were first notified of the reported gunshots about 12.15am and, on investigating, found the cause of the noise was fireworks being detonated in the River Tce property.
"Police attended a River Tce address in Warwick with reports of gun shots and investigations identified a number of fireworks had been detonated," Warwick police Sergeant Shane Reid said.
"Investigations are continuing.
"It is a timely reminder to members of the public to be aware that possessing or detonating fireworks without a proper licence is illegal in Queensland and is an offence under the Explosives Act."
