CHINESE phone giant Huawei has unveiled a sub $500 phone which offer both front and back dual lens cameras.

The Huawei nova 2i is squarely aimed at selfie shooters but the specs, including tall screen, are pretty impressive.

"We know what is essential to today's consumers, and we created a new device that packs powerful features to keep up," says Eric Zhai, managing director of Huawei Consumer Business Group Australia.

The Huawei nova 2i is the first device to feature the brand new Huawei FullView Display technology with a high-quality 5.9 inch screen.

"The impressive 83 percent screen-to-body ratio and 18:9 aspect provides a beautiful widescreen viewing experience for crisp, clear and bright images,'' the company said in a statement.

A Huawei First: Front and Back Dual-Lens Cameras

Launched initially with the Huawei P9 in April 2016, Huawei's dual-lens camera set a new standard for smartphone photography.

This continues into the Huawei nova 2i, featuring front and back dual-lens cameras.

The front-facing 13MP/2MP selfie camera is designed for portrait photography, featuring a new Selfie Toning Flash, which will give users studio quality lighting.

The rear-facing camera combines a 16MP lens and a 2MP lens. Both dual-lens cameras feature hardware-level bokeh for crisper, cleaner and more artistic photos and improved performance in low-light situations.

The phone features a fingerprint sensor in the centre of the back, which is easier to reach than the Samsung equivalents. It uses machine learning to become more accurate and secure with every use

It is powered by an 8-core Kirin 659 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of ROM, making it capable of running several applications simultaneously while streaming content.

The Huawei nova 2i will be available in JB Hifi, Harvey Norman and participating retailers from October 25th, 2017 (SRP $499) and in Vodafone from November.
