Hospital transition incoming for Roma health workers

HEALTH workers will be moving into their new digs at the redeveloped Roma Hospital by December, the southwest’s newest health boss has confirmed.

Newly appointed board chair of the South West Hospital and Health Service, Karen Tully, has told The Western Star the new hospital remains on schedule for completion despite COVID-19 restrictions creating new challenges for all of the state’s health services.

Ms Tully said works on the Roma Hospital Redevelopment were almost finished, with only a handful of projects left to be finished.

“All the plans are absolutely on track; it will be completed some time in the second half of this year,” Ms Tully said.

“At the moment, the earthworks and landscaping is being done, and there will be a carpark for in excess of 200 cars.

“The furniture and fit-out is well and truly in the planning stage and is about to commence … there will be the set up of staff workstations and equipment towards the end of this year.”

The new $112.6 million hospital will have 22 beds and two birth suites, with departments including emergency, ambulatory care, medical imaging, medical records, allied health, operating theatres and central sterilising.
